Thursday 8th May 2025 saw Windlestone Parish Council host its Annual General Meeting; its first Meeting of the new term of Office since the Local Elections took place across County Durham. Having been retained as Chair of the Parish Council for 8 years, Councillor David Willshaw decided that it was time to retire from the role and pass the reigns onto someone else. Members voted and agreed to appoint Councillor Derek Cattell as the new Chair of the Parish Council, with Councillor Allison Morris taking up the role of Vice-Chair. All five of Windlestone's Councillors from the previous term of office stood for re-election, and were re-elected uncontested.

Chair, Councillor Derek Cattell said 'I am honored to be elected as the new Chair of the Parish Council. David has done a fantastic job in the role, and I would like to thank him for all his hard work over the years. I definitely have big shoes to fill.'
